WORKING TOGETHER TO UNLOCK THE SECRETS OF ADOPTION

Special Child

When I was just a little girl
And at my mama's knee
I learned I was adopted
A "special child", you see.

I so often wondered,
Was this good or bad.
I wasnt always quite sure
But somehow it made me sad.

It was all too confusing
How could this possibly be?
How could someone have given up
A "special child" like me?

I didn't want that title
Oh. no sir, not me.
There was no way that I could be
A "special child "you see.

But now you see before you
A woman fully grown
Who's fought so many battles
And is standing on her own.

And now it's so apparent
and surely no surprise.
Always within each of us
That "special child" resides.

So now I claim that title and
for those who are like me
Still searching for those answers
About that "special child", you see.
